EASIER TO RUN
POLLY MEDLEN Independent
Quite a vibe has been building about POLLY MEDLEN over the past couple of months, and with the release of her debut album, Easier to Run, it's not hard to understand why. This talented youngsongwriter from Western Australia - who took out the WAM Country Songwriter award in 2006 - has a unique sound, a stack of great songs and a compelling musical presence. ROGER CORBETT produced this album, and is clearly very excited by Polly's potential. She has a voice that becomes addictive to listen to - there's a certain tone, a wonderful ability to bend notes, and that little catch that contains so much emotion. The songs on the album are all strong, but highlights include the first track, Any Other Way, the beautiful Like the Rain, When I'm Old and Take Me With You. My absolute favourite, however - and probably the most country track on the album - is the heartfelt Carry Me Home. That's closely followed by the song that won Polly the WAM award, Live on Love.
